Particle Effects, or PFX, is a site dedicated to expanding and improving the discourse on video games by analyzing what makes games enjoyable, critically discussing the current state and future direction of the industry, and exploring the ramifications beyond gaming itself.

Eric has been a gamer since the days of the original Game Boy and early on developed a particular fondness for platformers. After a hiatus from gaming due to college and a broken PS3, he is back to his favorite hobby with renewed interest and a new perspective. Part of that is a better appreciation of experimental gaming mechanics, but he still wishes more developers would copy Monster Hunter.

Vedran discovered the joys of video games with a used Intellivision, fake wood paneling and all, in 1997. Thankfully, his brother nurtured the unhealthy obsession with a purchase of the first PlayStation. Since then, gaming has been a key pastime and passion for him.
